Loom Projects
The neckpiece below was started during a workshop in Palm Springs CA with Don Pierce, master loom artist and author of two books.

There is an obvious influence from Don's designs! I planned the neckpiece to complement a special spiral lampwork bead by Robert Jennik of Knot Just Beads. I learned how to incorporate a support bar and how to leave an opening while weaving. I also became experienced at sewing in warp threads using Don's techniques.

The Winter Ice Diamond pendant is just 3 inches high. It is influenced by the Japanese loom artist Takako Sako whose work I admire. I used techniques I learned from Don Pierce to create a cross-shaped opening that I filled with a strand of bicone Swarovski crystals with a cube shape in the centre. It is an excellent project to use to teach looming techniques. It is finished with a bead tip, jump ring and bail and hung on a sterling silver snake chain.
This is my newest loomwork—a Bauhaus neckpiece, inspired by a rug/wallhanging from 1926 by Anni Albers. The top flap has an opening to show Swarovski crystals set in behind. The same crystals finish off the fringes. The body was loomed in one piece & is supported by a metal bar.
